Who We Are
#GALSNGEAR is a community-driven initiative that supports and advances those identifying as women in media, entertainment, and technology through leadership training, technical upskilling, mentorship, and speaking opportunities. We work to build TEQUITY by giving women Access to high-level professional networks, technical and leadership Training, and industry-wide Visibility. Essential to reaching our goals is a diverse and welcoming Community that supports and encourages each member, regardless of age, race, birth gender, or national identity. Founded in 2015, #GALSNGEAR operates as a B-corporation style mission-driven initiative, and through our fiscal sponsor accept US tax-deductible contributions and grants to support specific programs.

Our Success Stories
- Leadership Training: 698 women have completed our 4-pillar leadership training, gaining skills in leading teams, building a professional brand, negotiation skills, and financial fitness
- Visibility: We endeavor to bring women’s voices to the stages and panels of leading industry events. 195 women have been featured on industry panels at events in N. America, Europe and Asia thanks to our efforts.
- Technical & Career Training: Each year, hundreds of women participate in our monthly virtual upskilling meetups with experts on technical and career topics.
- Network-Building: Multiple cohorts of women on our curated teams have participated in beta testing hardware and software used by the media and entertainment industry, advancing their knowledge and making valuable career connections.
- Access: Multiple cohorts of university students and early career women have been paired with mentors and provided with #GALSNGEAR scholarships to attend industry events, so they can build relationships and connect to jobs across the industry.
- Diversity: 23% of our 2,000+ members are women of color; 50% of our Leadership Council are women of color. LGBTQI are welcomed. Our members range in age from 18 to 88. We believe a diverse industry is a more sustainable one.
- Industry-Wide Tools: We provide allyship recommendations, tools and resources like this guide
- Career Pathways: We showcase career opportunities for women across such diverse fields as college sports broadcast, live event production, location-based immersive media, filmmaking, streaming media, content creation and traditional broadcast. We have highlighted those careers through our many industry panels, and our Tequity Talk podcast which brings the women working behind the scenes in media, technology and entertainment to a wider audience.

1. Mentoring in Industry Panels: We intentionally pair more experienced speakers with those experts who may have never been tapped for a public appearance. We ensure they are coached and feel good about building their brand as a leader.
2. Mentoring in Curated Beta-Testing Groups: We build intentional small groups of beta-testers for industry vendors developing hardware and software–from cameras to video editing features. These groups become places where women develop relationships with industry innovators, as well as with other women who are working in their technical fields.
3. Mentoring at Leadership Retreats: We convene small-group workshop intensives where longtime industry leaders connect with early to mid-career women. The result is that attendees build peer relationships, and find accountability partners.
4. Mentoring Through Student and Young Leader Production Intensives: We host college seniors at our leadership trainings as well as major industry conferences. By connecting them to more experienced women in media, technology, broadcast and entertainment careers, we help them nurture lifelong relationships with mentors.
5. Mentoring at Networking Events: We invite attendees with intentionality, across industry sectors and experience levels, and work to ensure that newcomers feel welcomed.
